As the saying goes, if you do what you love, then you’ll never work a day in your life. I am extremely lucky to have found a passion that allows me to do that every day. I fell in love with sports at a young age. I’ve played almost every sport out there, and am still involved in coaching lacrosse. However, I knew my chances of becoming a professional athlete were more of a dream than a reality. When I was in middle school, I realized I could live that passion for sports through broadcasting, and the rest is history!
Currently, I am the sports director at ABC12 (WJRT) in Flint, Michigan. Mid-Michigan is extremely unique. The love for sports goes far beyond rooting for Michigan, Michigan State, and the Detroit teams. It’s the passion people have for their local high school athletes that really shine through, and it’s truly an honor to tell those athlete’s stories.
I moved to the mitten from Albany, N.Y., where I was a part of launching a daily 30-minute local sports show, Upstate Sports Edge. I filled many roles in my two years in New York, including hosting the Edge, anchoring on the weekends, and I was the face of the station’s New York Yankees pregame show. Some of my most memorable moments in Upstate New York came at Saratoga Race Course, where I covered some of the top race horses in the world, including Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, who lost his first career race in the 2015 Travers Stakes.
Prior to my time in Albany, I won a small market Emmy while working as the sports director in at KTXS in Abilene, Texas, and spent three years as a sports utility player in New York City at News 12 The Bronx/Brooklyn and News 12 New Jersey. With News 12, I was able to cover Super Bowl XLVIII, two Yankees postseason runs, and the Nets' move to Brooklyn.
I graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. While there, I was an award-winning sports reporter for Cronkite Newswatch. Some of my internships in college included KTVK and KPNX in Phoenix, CBS News New York, and Arizona State media relations.
When I’m not out covering our local teams, you can find me in the gym, coaching lacrosse or cheering on some of my favorite sports teams. Along with the Sun Devils, I root for the New York Yankees, Baltimore Ravens and New York Rangers.
